The Hengifossá River feeds two spectacular waterfalls, one of which, Hengifoss, is the third highest in the country at 118 metres. This spectacular waterfall falls into a spectacular gorge and is easily accessible from the road. Below Hengifoss is a smaller waterfall, Litlanesfoss, which is notable for its basalt column configuration. Both are worth a visit.
