La etapa más alpina de todas. Tendremos que superar unos 1.000 m de desnivel durante esta etapa. Comenzaremos atravesando el río y avanzando valle arriba hasta un punto en el que tomaremos una senda empinada por la que iremos ascendiendo. Al poco de ascender, ya veremos grandes precipicios a nuestro lado, y paredes y rocas con formas increíbles.
A medida que vamos ascendiendo podremos observar más lenguas del glaciar Mýrdalsjökull y el valle del que provenimos allá al fondo. Tras una pendiente pronunciada, accederemos a una terraza enorme, donde podremos aprovechar y asomarnos a precipicios de más de 500 m de altura, al final del río de lava del volcán Fimmvörðuháls.
