The scenic beauty of the surroundings makes Djúpivogur a popular tourist spot and boat trips to Papey Island are one of its highlights.Djúpivogur is also home to one of Iceland's most original attractions: the Merry Bay Eggs (Eggin í Gleðivík), 34 granite eggs representing several species of local birds. Each large egg, created by local artist Sigurður Guðmundsson, stands on its own pedestal in the town's harbour.
