Just west of Kirkjubæjarklaustur, the Fjaðrárgljúfur canyon has been carved over millions of years by the river Fjaðrá.
Just west of Kirkjubæjarklaustur, the Fjaðrárgljúfur canyon has been carved out over millions of years by the Fjaðrá River. The hiking trail along the east rim of the canyon offers breathtaking views over the plains and glacial streams below. The canyon is also noted for its curious rock formations, including one that looks like a finger, where legend has it that a troll is buried.
