The area is known for its bucolic surroundings and the many marked hiking trails in the area, a riverside restaurant and a "Troll Garden", where the marked trails are highlighted by images and stories of trolls that inhabit the area. Steinar Berg, author of a series of troll folktales illustrated by Brian Pilkington, is the owner of Fossatún and his autographed books are available in the local shop.
