The "echo rocks", or Hljóðaklettar, are a collection of basalt columns arranged in all directions to create unique formations and arched caves that create eerie echoes and reverberations.Located at the entrance to Vesturdalur in Vatnajökull National Park, the Hljóðaklettar area has two marked hiking trails starting from the car park itself. One (marked in blue) is an easy 1 km walk that will take approximately 30 minutes, while the other (marked in red) is a complete circle around the area that usually takes about 2 hours.
