On the coast of Bolungarvík is the Ósvör Maritime Museum, a fascinating exhibition built on the ruins of old fishermen's huts. Carefully restored, the highlight is a replica of a six-person rowing boat, one of the oldest of its kind in the country, a salt house, fish stores, a fish drying area and tool sheds with all the fishing paraphernalia of the time. A number of fishing documentaries have been filmed here.
