The award-winning museum transports visitors back to the times when the booming fishing industry prevailed in the north of Iceland. The museum, consisting of 5 exhibition buildings, arranged along the coastline of Siglufjörður, is Iceland's largest maritime museum and features artefacts used in the early days of herring fishing, including boats, machinery and historical documentation. The historic buildings, once central to herring processing, have been meticulously restored to their original structure.
